Microtrac has been a pioneer in manufacturing light scattering particle size technology for over 35 years. In 1974 Microtrac released the world's first commercially available particle size analyzer utilizing laser diffraction as a measurement method. Through a process of continuous innovation Microtrac has consistently delivered "firsts" in this sector.
The first particle size analyzer using polarized light to measure sub-micron particles (SPA), the first dry powder disperser, the first optical bench to use auto-alignment (FRA), the first high concentration Dynamic Light Scattering particle size analyzer (UPA) and now the first laser diffraction instrument to use real Blue Lasers (Bluewave). Operating globally, with a policy of delivering 100% customer satisfaction Microtrac continues to be a leader in Particle Characterization.

Microtrac Bluewave Particle Size AnalyzerThe Bluewave particle size analyzer is the latest in a long line of ground-breaking solutions applying new technology to deliver unsurpassed resolution in particle size distribution measurement. Utilizing Microtrac's patented Tri-Laser Technology Bluewave provides accurate, reliable and repeatable particle size information for applications ranging from research and development to production to process and quality control. The Tri-Laser System has years of proven superior diffraction based particle sizing measurement. The Tri-Laser System utilizes precise angular measurement of scattered light through a full 180 degree angular range. Bluewave adopts the same Tri-Laser measurement and analysis while replacing the two high angle red lasers with short wavelength blue laser diodes. Blue laser diodes have only recently become available and Bluewave is the first to utilize them for particle sizing. Short wavelength blue lasers provide enhanced sensitivity and resolution in the nanometer to micron size range while maintaining the proven Tri-Laser performance in the micron to millimeter sizes. Microtrac S3500 Series Particle Size Analyzer with Tri-laser TechnologySince the early 1970's Microtrac has a tradition of delivering innovative solutions in Particle Size Analysis through light scattering technology. The S3500 series is a continuation of that tradition. Utilizing the patented Tri-Laser Technology the S3500 provides accurate, reliable and repeatable particle size information for applications ranging from research and development to production to process and quality control. The Tri-Laser System uses precise angular measurement of scattered light through a full 180 degree angular range with three lasers and two detector arrays. Analysis of scattered light to determine particle size employs a Mie based unified angular scattering theory from large particle analysis to small particle analysis. Microtrac S3500 SI Laser Diffraction Particle Size Analyzer and Particle Image AnalyzerThe Microtrac S3500 SI incorporates image analysis capability with the long established Microtrac laser diffraction technology. Users of the Microtrac S3500 tri-laser particle size analyzer now have the added advantage of being able to view the sample using state-of-the-art camera technology and imaging software. The sample is dispersed in the Microtrac Sample Delivery Controller (SDC) and circulated through both the image analyzer and the laser diffraction particle size analyzer. The measuring cells for both techniques are separate to ensure the user benefits from world class laser diffraction and image analysis technology. Click HERE for more information. |

Microtrac Semtrac Desktop Scanning Electron MicroscopeThe Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) is used for observing the surface structure of a sample. The column is made up of an electron gun that generates a stream of electrons. The stream passes through apertures and an electronic lens system that controls the flow of electrons. The electron stream then passes through scan coils that raster the beam over the sample. Secondary electrons are emitted from the sample and are then collected by the secondary electron detector. The secondary electron signal is digitally captured, processed and ported through a USB connector to a PC for viewing. The PC software also controls the column settings. The column settings are the magnification, high voltage, condenser lens, vacuum and other microscope setting. The microscope was designed with an intuitive easy to use software interface. Automatic and manual operations are completely software driven. Click HERE for more information. |

Microtrac DIA Dynamic Image AnalyzerDynamic Image Analysis is one of the most recent and advanced methods for particle characterization, and now becoming widely employed throughout the particulate industries. It employs a light source, lenses, camera and sophisticated software in a powerful computer for collecting digital images and performing millions of calculations on those images in real time. A CCD or CMOS camera photographs the moving particles, stores the digital image file, and upwards of 25 to 30 different size and shape parameters are then measured and reported by counting the particles' pixels, whose size is known. Dynamic Image Analysis employs a flow system to transport the particles through the beam from a strobe lamp where a lens system and digital camera on the opposite side of the lighted particle stream captures and stores the digital images of the flowing particles.
